ALEXANDRA DADDARIO: True Detective [S1E2]

Alexandra Daddario stupendous nude debut in True Detective [S1E2]

What a tremendous scene. A truly sexy, almost perverse coming of age performance by Alex. You would have never guessed it was her first ever nude scene. First-timers usually take a swig of the moonshine or something strong to calm the nerves.
Alex thoroughly reinvented her on-screen image here. The way she smiles at Woody, walking confidently to the couch, taunting him by squeezing her breasts and finally lifting her shirt to reveal one of the greatest pairs of chesticles ever seen on TV and silver screen. Woody tries to sneak in a nibble but Alex was not having it. She performs a mini strip-tease showing off toned booty and very brief glimpse of her clit tail as she turns around.

Sadly Cary and Adam Arkapaw went the tasteful route and we were robbed of a clear full-frontal. Alex was there for the taking with her groupie-like crush for Woody. One word from Woody and she would have done it. Standing still as the cam lovingly pan her whole body from Woody's POV.
The scene shifts to her straddling the aging pothead, who to his credit was disciplined enough not to attempt another go at sucking Alex nips. She was probably quite clear about the touchy-feely part. Boundaries, guys. Implied BJ before it cuts to Alex with her shirt back on. Obvious compromise. She wasn't ready to show everything in one frame. Cary demanded a quick muff shot (no merkin here) and she puts her top back on. A clear but very brief view of her hairy pussy. BR will probably offer a sharper view. The May-December couple chats for a while. Woody had the last word or tongue in Alex's f*ck hole. Wonderful, sensual and an instant classic. The nudity to beat (off to) of 2014.

ALEX DD in Slo-Mo

Pussy Shot (not a merkin. That's her real bush and clit)

Mystery EP Take On The Merkin Issue:
[EP is an experienced producer based in L.A. He chipped in from time to time - when requested - to offer his expert views and opinions derived from his years working in the biz including on various cable shows]
In my opinion, no way she was wearing a merkin. Many actresses grow a little hair out when doing nude scenes. A merkin would be much darker and thicker. You can't apply a merkin that is so thin. You definitely wouldn't have been able to see the hanging labia (which are visible in the shot) and furthermore you'd be able to see a visible strip in her butt when she bends over if she were wearing one. You can almost always see those strips on actresses when they wear patches. For example if you look at Christy Romano in Mirrors 2 you can see it as she walks away from the camera tucked into her butt. You can also see it all the time in Spartacus. It must sound like I studied this stuff but when you work with these things all the time you just spot the tells immediately. There's no way to make those thin hairs you can see visible as she turns to get up. That's all natural. I just wanted to give you my expert opinion that she almost certainly was not wearing any protective patches. I haven't asked any of my colleagues but I'm surprised to see so many people thinking that whenever there is pubic hair on an actress it must be a merkin. Merkins are very distinguishable because they are thick and they don't thin out along the edges. Just look at the clip as she's about to stand up, you can see way too much skin in between hair for that to be fake. Hope that's helpful.

I'm wondering if there was indeed a compromise between Alex and the director? In the first segment she was totally naked. Cut to the second scene she was back wearing her shirt. Is it possible - between the takes - she watched the first scene on the monitor and felt too 'exposed', had a chat with Cary and Nic. She wasn't willing to do a fully nude shot for the second part and they came to an agreement that's workable for Alex and the boys?

Mystery EP
No. I highly doubt that. My guess is they filmed all of those scenes together and it was either written that way or the director chose to film it that way. You never watch nude scenes on playback on set. It's pretty much unheard of. I doubt she felt uncomfortable as the scene she did afterward would probably be, in many ways, more exposing on set, believe it or not. When she bends over like that, its a very vulnerable position - much more so than in the earlier scene and she seemed extremely comfortable. It's much more likely that it was written into the scene that they cutaway from the scene, to show that time has passed and they've finished having sex (but not that much time) and she's thrown on a shirt. When you think about it - that entire scene may have been more enjoyable to nudity lovers if she had remained topless - but it also would have undermined and distracted from the dialogue. Also if she were uncomfortable, she might have been wearing all of her clothes afterwards. I'd say they just tried to depict a very realistic situation where a girl might just throw a shirt on but is comfortable enough to remain bottomless and have that dialogue in the scene that followed the sex, not be undermined by her just sitting there completely nude. If anything, people should commend her for not wearing bottoms in a scene that might very often and with many actresses have featured bottoms unnaturally...I don't believe she asked for them to compromise and allow her to put a shirt on. When you film those scenes it becomes second nature on set. No one's really thinking about who's naked or not. It's what's best for the scene. Once she's gone completely nude, she's not worrying about putting a shirt on in the next scene. That's my take.

Sorry, guys if the title confused you into thinking I'm posting leaked HD pics/clips from the episode. This is a different kind of jumping the gun. I'm opening this thread for you guys to post comments after TD broadcast....after Alex DD achieves nudity immortality. Sort of a "What Were You Doing On The Night..." scenario. In this case, yours truly and others of the same ilk including many of you ; ) will be rubbing one off to one of the prettiest gals in showbiz. You all can comment about anything relating to Alex (her breasts, full-frontal, booty, her performance). Go for it.

Your comments will be quickly published but GIF's and pics will be slow to go up. Work beckons the very next day. As I previously mentioned, it's going to be busy couple of months. My partner will be moving in temporarily to my office to work closely on a project so I need to be careful in accessing the blog. I can't open any NSFW pic/clips for more than few seconds without him going WTF-he's-staring-at.

In just few hours, we are going to celebrate arguably the nude scene of the 2014. It doesn't matter if you're in your teens and fan of Alex since her Percy Jackson days, 25-years old with a GF, 30-something and happily married, in your 40's with kids of your own or in your 50's with children older than Alex. The blue-eyed goddess is going to make lots of people around the world happy. I'm so excited right now. My heart thumps like crazy every time my thought turns to Alex. Practically constipated with all the butterflies in my stomach.

It was around the same time last year that my hopes were crushed and dick went limp after Maggie Grace broke every nudity lovers fragile heart by choosing to keep her top on. A freaking see-thru when we wanted a full-frontal walkabout. While we still wait for Maggie to join the nudity party in proper and grand manner, let us rejoice in Alex DD nudefiesta. The sweetheart answered our prayers.

Alex will be feeling nervous too. Likely told her family to give this particular episode a miss. Pretty sure she won't be watching it. Her twitter followers is now nearing 200k, adding 10k in couple of weeks since the pics leaked; on strength of her nude debut alone. Alex knows her T-and-A show is the chief reason for the surge.

Random Alex Factoids:
[1] Alex and Amanda Seyfried became chummy with each other for a while after working together in All My Children. Both were in their teens at that time. Amanda didn't stick around for long and left Alex behind after Mean Girls changed her life forever.

[2] Alex is wise beyond her years. In an interview back in 2003, she had this advice for any of you wanting to get involved in the acting biz:
"First of all, acting lessons and learning as much as you can…once you are in the business you need to devote yourself to this business because it does take a lot of work and most of all keep working and working at it."

[5] It sounds dreadfully unfair that you go into these other auditionsand you're giving your all and you have to react to someone who's justa piece of cardboard.
AD: Auditions are stressful. Being an actress is stressful. I've been in a lot of unfair acting situations, but a lot of people in any profession have been in an unfair situation. It's just, you know, they want to see what you can do and, if anything, it's great preparation to handle the intensity of the screentest with Chris Columbus and the people I screentested with.

[6] Question: So what have you done previously?
Alexandra Daddario: Well, it's a difficult business. It took a very long time to get here. Since the soap, I've done a lot of episodic, a lot of Law and Order in New York and little parts in movies. I had a lead in a small horror film. And it's all steps to get to the next point. Each time you do something, you learn something new, you get a little bit more fearless and I'm very lucky to have this opportunity. I'm very excited to be doing what I love.

[7] Alexandra Daddario: A Back Stage Exclusive
Actor2Watch:  What was your first real break as an actor?
Alexandra Daddario: I think that "Percy Jackson" is, but it couldn't have happened without every single other step. You could say that my first commercial was a break because it got me into SAG, or my first television show, "All My Children," was a break because it got me comfortable doing television. Then I did a lead in a horror film and that gave me a break because it gave me the ability to be fearless and take chances.

A2W:  Do you have any tips for novices or is there anything that you wish someone had told you when you were starting out in acting?
AD: A lot of that, just with life, is I think you sort have to figure it out for yourself. As far as tips go, just be in it for the right reasons. Love film, and if you're passionate about it, then go for it and follow your heart. But surround yourself with positive people. Don't let negativity get you down.

Alexandra Daddario Talks 'True Detective' Nude Scene: 'I Just Sort Of Did It'

'Percy Jackson' actress explains why the role was still a 'huge challenge' for her.

Alexandra Daddario on "True Detective"
"True Detective" marked HBO's biggest debut since "Boardwalk Empire" in 2010, and when it returns for its second episode Sunday night (January 19), not only will viewers get more of the pitch-black murder mystery and great performances from Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, but they'll see Alexandra Daddario take on her most mature role to date.

The actress is known for her roles in the "Percy Jackson" series and the most recent "Texas Chainsaw Massacre," but on Sunday's episode, "Seeing Things," Daddario takes on a part that she described to MTV News as a "huge challenge."

As Lisa Tragnetti, Daddario plays the young woman who has an affair Detective Hart (Harrelson), and after just a brief appearance in the first of eight episodes, her role greatly expands in the second.

Speaking with MTV News, Daddario recalled her decision to take on the role and how she approached her revealing scenes with Harrelson.

"I think one thing about this role for me was that it was a huge challenge for me, and I saw it as a good challenge. I saw it as an interesting challenge," Daddario said. "I really wanted to be part of the show, and I understood why the nudity and all of that was required of the character.... The character is really different from anything that I've done before. The nudity was just part of that."

On the day of the shoot, Daddario took comfort in her more costar, whose experience helped her through a situation that could have been awkward.

"Woody has done so many different things. He made the whole situation very comfortable," Daddario said. "It wasn't anything awkward in that sense. I tried not to think about it too much before shooting the more intimate scenes and just sort of did it. [Harrelson] has been there done that. He's Woody Harrelson. If there's anybody that I was going to be comfortable with, it's somebody like him."

"Seeing Things" only just started to tell the story of Lisa in the context of Hart's life, and Daddario says that there's likely some trouble coming from the relationship.

"I think she's definitely got some issue. Nobody is all good or bad," Daddario said of her character.

"If anything, she is probably a little bored and emotionally volatile and naïve. She has probably done things like this before, maybe not exactly how it all turned out. That's her role in Hart's story. She causes problems for him."

"I've done things in it that I've never done before" - Alex DD

TV Review: True Detective Episode 2: Seeing Things

As for Hart, Harrelson's home life is shown to be in disarray, and if his on-screen wife Michelle Monaghan is still a relatively minor presence in the show, the ending of the episode suggests that's going to change soon. In a scene that was infamous long before the episode even aired, Alexandra Daddario has a red-hot sex scene with Harrelson, where she goes completely nude, showing off her incredible body. That said, I imagine her character has some deeper significance than merely to titillate audiences with some cable nudity (not that I'm complaining), which is suggested when Harrelson starts letting go a few too many aspects of the case while engaging in pillow talk.

Headless Actress in Topless Scene

The sex reveal on episode two of True Detective--that Woody Harrelson's Hart, married to a beautiful woman (Michelle Monaghan, so good in Trucker) and father of two daughters, has a side squeeze with whom he plays hand cuff hanky panky--was one of the few things I've seen on this metaphysical mood-ride through the burnt-out pentacostalism of Southern Gothic that played out as straight from the usual spice rack of pay-cable titillation. Not only are hand cuffs a naughty cliche, ditto the disclosure of a double life being led behind the facade of a Family Man, but the actress playing Hart's f-buddy, Alexandra Daddario, was if anything too luscious a confection. When she undid her blouse and out came her breasts, it was as spectacular a hello as Uma Thurman's topless scene in Dangerous Liaisons, which drew such lubricious notice that Thurman shied away from doing nudity in Henry and June and thereafter, much as Annette Bening refused to reprise her walk on the wild side bare-all after The Grifters got similar to-do. It's isn't that I don't appreciate a gorgeous actress in the glowing bounty of youth--God bless America, as Don King would say--but Daddario was such a Playmate centerfold in motion that it took me out of the story and milieu and became the sort of boobylicious eye-candy that pay-cable peddles as part of its premium frisson package. Their little play session wouldn't have been out of place in Californication, and that's not the latitude and longitude that this show broils in.
It's a minor complaint I'm lodging and if True Detective insists on throwing hot body action at us in future episodes I will simply try to rise above it, as all true aesthetes wrapped in cellophane do, and let others wallow in the hubba-hubba of it all. For it is the woozy slosh of Christian faith and occult symbology, spiritual accedie and corporeal affliction (cuttings, piercings, tattoos occupying entire continents of the flesh), unfolding in a rural-industrial Louisiana landscape steeped in futility and decay that interests me. What lifts creator Nic Pizzolatto's show above the misabilerist monotony and addiction pathology of Nordic noir and its derivatives is Proustian time-shifting, sharp, sneaky-funny writing, and even sharper, sneaky acting from Matthew McConaughey, whose detective Rush Cohle is so stick-figure insectiile, his man-who-fell-to-earth alienation and perceptions ("I can smell the psychosphere") so cryptic and deflective, that he could have come across as a David Lynch scarecrow if it weren't for the real, ground-in, damaged-goods pain that McConaughey communicates on a deeper frequency, between cigarette drags and beer sips: a redneck existentialism that Flannery O'Connor might have summoned from beneath the rotting floorboards.

NOAA Weather Forecasts Recommend Alexandra Daddario To Prevent School Closings

“Because she’s really hot,” explains meteorologist
urlWASHINGTON, D.C. The nation’s weather bureau today strongly recommended that citizens of the Northeast turn to “True Detective” star Alexandra Daddario and her recent nude scene as a viable way of beating the extreme cold and blizzard conditions caused by yet another polar vortex.

“Alexandra is pretty smokin’ in those scenes,” said lead forecaster Brent Gaskell at today’s surprise press conference. “The opposite of cold is hot, and we figure the American public can pretty much take it from there.”

This is the first time NOAA has used the nude human figure as a public advisory since the controversial Fabio “beat the heat” campaign of the early ’90s, which attempted to capitalize on the romance novel figure’s “coolness.”

Hey Internet! Let's Objectify the Crap Out of Alexandra Daddario's Best Feature!

By Dustin Rowles
Mry1NRO.jpg
HBO’s True Detective debuted a week and a half ago to rave reviews, with many calling it the best series of the television season, and others even suggesting it was the best HBO show since The Wire. It is a great show, anchored by powerful performances by Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey, and a mystery sure to keep the Internet buzzing for the next six weeks.
Then the second episode came, and while the consensus opinion on the brilliant drama didn’t waver, in many spheres of the Internet, the substance of the show took a backseat to, let’s just admit, a really hot sex scene between Alexandra Daddario’s character and Woody Harrelson’s character. For better or worse that sex scene became a huge topic of conversation, and in some ways, the drama took a backseat to a topless Daddario.
I spend a lot of time on the Internet, and I’ve seen and read things this week that necessitated a spiritual cleansing of sorts. With Purell. While much of the conversation has been slobbering adoration for Daddario’s toplessness, it hasn’t all been positive. I’ve seen complaints that her breasts were too large, I’ve seen critics suggest that Daddario was too hot for the show, I’ve seen recappers complain (perhaps rightfully) that the way the sex scene was shot — with Daddario’s head out of the frame — was objectionable, and still others complain that it completely ruined their suspension of disbelief.
But what everybody is missing because they’re too focused on the fact that Daddario had taken off her shirt for an HBO drama (gasp!) is that the woman has the most piercing blue eyes I have ever seen. They are astounding. They don’t even look real. They’re like cat eyes, and I feel like they’re boring a hole in my soul … in a good way!
If you’re only paying attention to one of Daddario’s features, you may be missing her best physical asset.

  • Q

What do you like most about True Detective ?
    says:
I just think it's an amazing story. Beyond that, the mood. It's dark and philosophical. And the pacing lends itself to that. It takes time developing the characters, which I love to see a show do.

  • Q

What was it like working with Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson?
    says:
I worked more closely with Woody than Matthew, although they were both incredibly nice. Woody made me feel very comfortable in the more intimate scenes. When I heard they were doing a project together I knew that it had to be something really special to attract that kind of talent, and I feel really lucky to be part of it.

  • Q

Alex, what drew you to your character and the story in True Detective? Did you enjoy the filming location?
    says:
I liked the challenge of playing a character that was completely different from anything I had done previous. She's very dark and flawed, in a world of other flawed characters. The story was a page turner and extremely complex and interesting. And being set in Louisiana added to my ability to picture the world. I've filmed in Louisiana before and it's one of my favorite places.

  • Q

How important you think is an actor having a strong relation with their character? Do you think you connect with Lisa like that?
    says:
I think that there is something in almost every character that you can relate to. We all have dark, evil parts of ourselves as much as we have good and honest parts of ourselves. If you search long enough, you can find something that makes a character work for you. As an actor, part of your job is interpretation and embodying a their existence.

  • Q

In one word how would you describe Lisa?
    says:
    Confused.

  • Q

True Detective had an awesome début, definitely this show will bring great opportunities for you. So, what do you have next for this year?
    says:
I have a film with Anton Yelchin and Ashley Greene called "Burying the Ex" and a film I shot at home in New York called "Unreachable by Conventional Means.

  • Q

Who are you going for Super Bowl?
    says:
I haven't been following it properly because my Giants are out. But I love football and I'm sure I'll pick a team on the day based on how cute the quarterback is.

  • Q

Are there any similarities between "Lisa Tragnetti" and Alexandra Daddario?
    says:
We both use handcuffs. Just kidding.

  • Q

Is this a new challenge to act in this series of HBO?
    says:
Yes, it was a challenging role for me but I think the more I challenge myself, the more I grow as an actor, so I was very proud to be part of it.

  • Q

If you could give any advice for your character what would it be?
    says:
    Don't sleep with married men.

  • Q

What kind of books do you read?
    says:
I love Steve Martin's books. His autobiography is amazing. I also recommend "The Pleasure of My Company." I love Augusten Burroughs and went through a spell where I binged on all of them. Start with "Running with Scissors" and if you like it, I recommend all of his books. I love David Sedaris as well. I highly recommend "When We are Engulfed in Flames." I love these books because they deal with the darkness and confusion of the world and of our own existence but in a humorous way.

  • Q

What made you want to become an actress?
    says:
I've always been a big reader and I love stories. I'm fascinated by who people are, and why they do the things they do. I love film as a medium for showing people the world around them, and I'm so inspired by the books I read and the films I watch. As a kid and teenager, everytime I'd see movie and walk out of the theater thinking, "so this happens to other people and other people feel this way," it made life easier to understand and therefore I saw more and got more from life. Being able to be part of the the things that inspired me is absolutely amazing.

FYI: Apparently Alexandra Daddario and Her Siblings Got First Pick at the Gene Pool Draft

 Screen Shot 2014-01-29 at 12.50.43 PM.png
Did you know that searches for Alexandra Daddario have surged 657 percent in the last month (thanks, Yahoo!) , and a whopping 445 percent of those searches are from blog writers searching for ways to appeal to the other 212 percent? It’s true! In my quest to satisfy, I discovered that True Detective’s Alexandra Daddario has a brother and a sister, and combined, they are basically the most attractive sibling set in the history of all mankind (IT’S SCIENCE).

The sibling’s names are Cat Daddario, who is probably still in college or something, and Matthew Daddario, who is an actor. In fact, he was in Delivery Man, though I have no memory of that. To be fair, I have very little memory of the movie, either.

Basically, in the future, when we’re allowed to pick and choose our own genetics, everyone is going to use the Daddarios as their prototypes.

Alexandra Daddario Teases "True Detective"

Of the troublemaking Lisa, Daddario told us, "It was fun to play that, just a little crazier and different than any other character I've ever played." And while she couldn't say much about what's ahead in the final four episodes, she gushed, "It gets really exciting."

As for her headline-making nude scene in the second episode, Daddario admitted. "There's something very nerve-racking about doing something like that for the first time, just like going in front of a camera for the first time and having your first line. But I tried not to think about it too much and I understood why it was important in the story and for my character and for Woody's character. I just tried not to think about it and that was pretty much it. I  think it makes total sense in the story."
