After jail and countless court appearances, Lindsay Lohan's movie career finally appears to have been resuscitated.
Having recently wrapped filming on Liz and Dick, the 25-year-old star has gone straight on to her next job, shooting the sexual thriller The Canyons.
Even though filming is only just getting started, director Paul Schrader is already taking an interactive approach - sharing behind the scene photos of Facebook, including this one of Lohan in bed with porn star James Deen, the male lead in the film.
Writing about his last rehearsal with the actress earlier this week, Deen recalled: 'My favourite part of the day was sitting with Lindsay Lohan (who is amazing) and our director Paul Schrader (who is also amazing) and planning out how we would shoot our love scenes in the movie.'

Lindsay as apparently agreed to appear fully nude in the movie (she is only topless in it), which has been written by controversial American Psycho author Bret Easton Ellis.
The film is described as a LA noir, and will explore the seedy underbelly of LA life not seen in glossy shows such as MTV reality show The Hills. It appears Lohan and Deen are finding the necessary chemistry, with the porn star sharing details of his rehearsals with the Mean Girls star on his blog.
Back to work: In another picture, shared on the film's official Facebook page, the actress is captured during rehearsals with her co-stars |
Deen, the porn industry's Male Performer of the Year has featured in over 4000 X-rated films.
But The Canyons will be his first mainstream movie - and Deen has spoken candidly about his different approach to love scenes for the film.
'Doing porn is easy,' he shared, adding: '[But] the sex scenes in the movie are obviously not particularly sexual scenes.
'They are plot driven story intensive scenes. The point of all this is that the three of us talked about how each shot was going to go and the choreography of each scene. We talked for a long time about it and even used props.'
In another interesting Facebook post on the official page for the film, Schrader has revealed detailed behind the scenes information about the casting process - and negotiations with Lohan.
He said he was initially considering giving her a cameo role - but was persuaded by her at a meeting at the Chateau Marmont in Hollywood to give her a go at the lead role.
Schrader openly admits his fears in signing up the actress, based on her 'track history' - and told her he would only consider her if she 'agreed to the 'micro budget salary, did a screen test and completed Liz and Dick on schedule'.
The director also described how his first choice for the role of Tara was model Monica Gambee, not Lohan.
However Gambee 'balked at doing the [screen] test' after hearing porn star Deen was being consider as the male lead at the time.
Schrader wrote: 'It then became one thing one thing after another, and finally, she [Gambee] never came in for the screen test. I had planned that weekend to cast her both her and Sean Brosnan as the leads, but that plan unravelled.'
Even though Lohan 'came late to the casting of Tara' - she managed to impress with her screen test.
Schrader added: 'Everything that has made her such an interesting screen presence came alive in that test. I decided to use her.'

Olivia is such a vile creature. Something about her puts me off big time. Is it the tendency to roll her eyes? Pursing her lips whenever someone else takes away the spotlight? Loud (but dissimilar to Mila Kunis) grating voice.

We are Now in The 3 Days of the Campaign
There are only 3 days left, until Monday, July 23, to join the filmmaking team of this inspiring film. Our big news is that we now have the added request from people from all over the world, that in addition to English, we make sure the finished film is translated into German, Russian, French, Italian, Serbian, closed captioned and many more languages.
This story ran yesterday: QA: 'Spartacus' star Andy Whitfield's wife making doc about his fight with cancer http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2012/07/17/qa-partacus-star-andy-whitfield-widow-making-doc-about-his-fight-with-cancer/
We set our goal as a conservative amount just to complete filming and edit the film because we wanted to make a humble approach to asking the public, fans and our supporters for help. Anything that we raise over that will go towards helping us fulfill our goal of distributing and marketing the documentary as widely as possible, internationally -- and now in as many languages as possible. This will include not only helping us get into high profile film festivals and worldwide distribution channels that include television, home video and hopefully movie theaters, but also making it available for cancer related organizations and groups around the world, to fulfill Andy’s wishes to inspire and help others to live in the here and now, while pushing to accelerate the pace of cancer research. We are more inspired than ever to make this film. Thank you again for the amazing support you are showing us. We cannot do it without you.
Our Project:
“Be Here Now” is an inspiring feature documentary and love story, about the overnight sensation, actor and international sex symbol Andy Whitfield, who put the same determination and dedication that he brought to his lead role in the hit television show, “Spartacus: Blood and Sand,” into fighting life threatening cancer.
This is Andy's story, but it also about having the courage to make your dreams come true, tackling your fears and living in the present, despite the potential outcome. This film is for anyone who has ever faced a challenge in their lives.
Andy Whitfield, in the prime of his life, had just realized his dream of becoming an international star, when he was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins lymphoma. Before now, he and his eloquent and charismatic wife, Vashti, had combined their will power to make every success in their lives happen, including Andy’s transformation from an engineer into an actor and sex symbol. Overwhelmed when they heard that the best medical treatment the world had to offer would only give him a 25% chance for survival, they set their sites on beating cancer by making a promise in matching “Be Here Now” tattoos, to take Andy’s healing into their own hands and live life in the present, not in the shadows, every step of the way.
Not knowing what would happen, Andy invited a camera to follow him throughout his journey as he explores both medical and alternative healing option in Australia, New Zealand and India. This unprecedented access and his openness and honesty gives the audience an intimate look into his personal life, that is rarely shared, especially by a celebrity. It was Andy’s hope that by opening his story up to a documentary, he might help or inspire others facing similar challenges, while pushing to accelerate the pace of cancer research around the world.
What he did not anticipate was that the story would also capture his, and his family’s, determination, love, infectious humor and self-affirming attitudes. And, as everyone goes through their own transformations over the course of the film, “Be Here Now” transcends the subject of cancer and becomes a universal life-lesson about living fearlessly, going for your dreams, embracing each moment and living in the present – despite the potential outcome.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
You may now get involved in the making of this inspiring documentary. Led by the Academy Award® Nominated and multiple award winning filmmaker, Lilibet Foster, a camera followed Andy and his family’s unfolding story, for over a year. Andy also filmed personal diaries and took photographs throughout his journey. Together with the support of Sam Maydew, producer, Andy’s manager and principal of talent management and production company, The Collective, who brought everyone together, we have been able to get the documentary to this point.
We now need your help to finish it. The money we raise on Kickstarter will fund the additional filming and editing needed to finish the film. For your contributions, you will not only be rewarded with amazing, limited edition and collector's item gifts, but you will be helping to make Andy’s wish come true – to help or inspire others – because we plan to distribute the completed film as widely as possible internationally.
Andy gave selflessly by letting a camera follow his personal journey, so let's give back by helping fulfill the legacy the wanted to leave behind.
WHAT HAPPENS IF WE DON’T REACH OUR GOAL
Kickstarter is the largest funding platform for creative projects in the world. The way it works is that we have to meet our funding goal before the campaign expires – or we don’t get anything.
We can only finish this documentary with your help. You are as much a part of its creation as we are. The more people who participate, the more ability we will have to get Andy’s story out to as many people as possible.
So, help by donating and spreading the word to others. Share this link,“Like” us on Facebook, Twitter it, email this Kickstarter link to your friends, family, supporters, co-workers, fellow fans and anyone else.

Spoiler Chat: Scoop on Game of Thrones
Kyle in Eldon, Mo.: Do we know for sure that Daenerys' storyline is why Game of Thrones is filming in Morocco? I have other theories. That was what we speculated at first but not anymore, since Emilia Clarke herself confirms to us that she is indeed headed to Morocco! As for your other theories, please put them in a 50-slide power point presentation and send them our way. Thanks. "I have to pack my sunscreen for Morocco," Clarke tells us with a wink. "There will be a fair amount of skin [this season]." Oh, how unfortunate for you fan boys (and fan girls). And what does season three hold for the lovely dragon lady? "So basically when we left off season two, Daenery got her mojo back, so that is just continuing through season three," Clarke says. When we asked her if she'll be getting more powerful, she only smiled and coyly answered: "It's all good." March 31, 2013…get here faster! ________________________________________________
Gore (and lots of it) is about to hit the streets of Montreal for the 16th annual Fantasia International Film Festival. Like most major festivals there is a unique hype that surrounds the event. The Fantasia fest usually summons the bizarre and untamed, as well as those who enjoy a fare bit of terror induced edge-of-your-seat entertainment. This year the Fantasia Film Festival runs from July 19th to August 9th, and will screen over 160 films within the genres of Sci-fi, Horror, Action, Crime, Experimental, Retro, Historical, Musical, Romance, War and Western.
After painfully gleaning the program in an effort to pack in as much sci-fi, blood, guts and thrill into a limited amount of time (there are only 24 hours in the day!), the highlights of my viewing frenzy will start with director, co-writer and producer Shunichiro Miki’s film The Warped Forest. Official Selection at the Hawaii International Film fest and the Freak Me Out Section of the Sydney Film fest, The Warped Forest is an experimental comedy from Miki who very well might be a Japanese cross between Harmony Korine and Michel Gondry.
I am really looking forward to director Christoffer Boe’s Beast. Winner of the Jury Prize at the Gerardmer Fantastic Film Festival and Official Selection at SXSW, the Danish filmmaker’s fifth feature film is an illusive love drama gone incredibly wrong. In the same spirit of over excitement, Jan Kwiecinski, Alexey Fedorchenko and none other than the ubër peculiar Harmony Korine, have collaborated on screen to bring us The Fourth Dimension, staring Val Kilmer. Given that I am a huge fan of Korine, I am certain that The Fourth Dimension will definitely be explored more significantly on TFIB.
Chained, is the new film by Jennifer Lynch which has already been causing controversy with the MPAA who has bestowed upon it an NC-17 rating due to extreme violence. The rating, as well as the quality of the cast (staring Vincent D’Onofrio and Julia Ormond) might work in Lynch’s favour to finally lift the cinematic hex which she has been operating under for years, with the exception of her 2008 film Surveillance. Lynch is also the subject of Penny Vozniak’s documentary Despite the Gods, also screening at Fantasia. Vozniak’s film captures the treacherous and exhausting experience of Lynch’s goal to direct a horror fantasy film in… Bollywood?
Other films which I will not be missing include Killer Joe; Excision; Possession; The Human Race; School Girl Apocalypse; Easton’s Article; Replicas; Carre Blanc; Love in the Buff; Toy Master; Turn Me On; Sleep Tight; Wrong; The Haunting of Julia; Sons of Norway; The Victim; We Are Legion; Alter Ego’s; The Day Mishima Chose His Own Fate; Bones Brigade; The Mechanical Bride; A Night of Nightmares; In Bread.

Miss Korea 2012 winner admits she's had cosmetic surgery
Posted: 20 July 2012
SEOUL: Recently-crowned Miss Korea Kim Yu-mi admitted on a Korean television show broadcast on Wednesday, that she had gone under the knife prior to joining the beauty pageant, reported Korean media. This revelation comes after a photo of Kim from her high school yearbook surfaced on the internet recently.
The yearbook photo showed a girl who had small eyes and a broad face, a girl who looked completely different from the doe-eyed beauty that won the Miss Korea 2012 pageant - Korea's oldest beauty pageant - earlier this month.
"I knew my old photos would turn up, but I was shocked the newspapers made it sound like I had claimed to be a natural beauty," said Kim.
"I never said I was born beautiful."
The 21-year-old university student added that she knows some people will be disappointed after finding out that she has had work done, but pointed out that she had never deliberately concealed that fact.
She also expressed that she intends to make a name for herself with her "inner beauty" instead of her looks from now on.

The Porn Industry Is Being Ripped Apart By Piracy-Fueled 'Tube' Websites
by Jim Edwards
The adult entertainment business is being torn to shreds by websites exploiting a loophole in the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), according to porn trade news magazine XBiz. On one side are the studios and content producers that create the content. On the other, are so-called "tube" sites—websites modeled after YouTube that allow users to upload any video clips they like. A massive amount of pirated content is now available for free at places like youporn.com and redtube.com, and the DMCA isn't much help to the studios in getting copyrighted videos taken down. It's actually hurting the industry economically, according to USAToday.

It's actually hurting the industry economically, according to USAToday.
The law's "safe harbor" provision assumes that tube sites don't know that their content is pirated, as long as they delete infringing content on demand. The problem is that content goes up faster than studios can issue demands for it to be taken down. Worse, some companies upload content themselves while pretending their users have done it.
The publication cites one lawyer who has filed "dozens" of suits on behalf of porn studios against tube sites.
XBiz says (link safe for work):
In a case in which Viacom alleges YouTube infringed its copyrights, an appeals court ruled in April that YouTube could be liable for infringing content on its site if it knew the content was there.
YouTube had moved quickly to remove infringing content, but that wasn't enough to make it immune from the DMCA, the appeals court ruled.
However, the appeals court sent the case back to a judge to decide exactly how much YouTube knew, so the Viacom battle is far from over.

XBiz says (link safe for work):
Federal litigation in the 2nd Circuit may change things in favor of the studios, however. For example, one shady scenario involves a company that knowingly and willingly submits infringing content to its tube site — or pays others to do it for them — under the guise of “user” uploads. Then in an effort to seemingly comply with the DMCA, removes clips on request — only to have the compliance department send the removed material to the upload department, where this cynically cyclical process is endlessly repeated.[The DMCA] did not envision legions of third world pirates, spending their days in Internet cafes uploading stolen porn clips, as part of a “get paid based on the number of downloads your clip receives” affiliate program.“The DMCA is one of the most fucked up pieces of legislation affecting the industry, second only to the labyrinth of 2257 [a record-keeping requirement],” said [Chad Belville, an industry attorney], who has filed dozens of suits against tube sites on behalf of Private Media Group’s Fraserside unit, Kink.com and Zero Tolerance.
