Miss Studio City USA 2012/Miss California 2013 Finalist/Miss Santa Monica 2014 Contestant Kara MacKenzie Tolbert
23-years old Kara is represented as an actress by Origin Talent and is managed by Ginger McCartney Mgmt. She began dancing and modeling at a young age while growing up in Kansas City and made her way to Los Angeles after working in NY and abroad in Europe.
Tolbert is involved with a non-profit company developed by a singer Caitlin Crosby, called Giving Keys. The message is: paying it forward. The key is you have to give the key to someone you meet that needs encouragement. Last month, The Giving Keys partnered up with The Bully Project. Proceeds go to the shelters and transitional homes that were most effective in supporting Cera and Rob, a homeless couple the company employed.
Tolbert is also passionate about the Lu Parker Project whitch she is getting more involved with. The Lu Parker Project raises funds for environmental improvements within the Los Angeles animal shelters.
This down-to-earth dancer has had her ups-and-downs for sure, being injured and unable to pursue her dream of going to a dance college in New York.
Tolbert said, "I would love to go to college and study the liberal arts." That's something she has not gotten the chance to do yet but hopes the Miss USA pageant will give that opportunity.
