recapped: Celebrity Nudity Casting and News [December 18]


No real news to report but here are some interesting casting tidbits:

As we reported earlier, Mary Elizabeth Winstead has dropped out of Cinemax’s Quarry after filming the pilot. Look for HBO/Cinemax to make a decision soon regarding the fate of the series. If it does go to series, look for them to re-cast the role of Joni.
What about Mary E. WINSTEAD???
Doubt anything is shown but there is a bottomless scene in the script for Faults.

So it pretty much confirms zero nudity by MEW in QUARRY pilot. MEW plays Claire in FAULTS. Strange Recapped referred to the script with FAULTS now at post productions stage. MEW did her first nude scene for her husband's feature directorial debut? The flick needs to sell and part of the selling point could be MEW full-frontal akin to Kate Winslet in Holy Smoke. We all know how far chicks will go for 'perceived' love of their life. The realist in me is screaming in frustration though.....

The role of Gina in HBO’s Open should finally be cast in the next week or so. Gina is the hot straight girl that gets naked a lot with Scott Speedman’s character and is a series regular. They are thinking of casting someone ethnic.

If they going to announce the actress soon, that means it's already at call-back stage and close to confirmation which also means Recapped have a pretty good idea the name of the main candidate(s). 
Ethnic? That's a broad term nowadays. Basically a non-white. We can rule out African-American. Asian? Remote possibility. Likely a Latina. Natalie Morales? The name Gina always conjures up the image of a cute but loud-mouth Italian chick.

Luca Guadagnino’s La Piscine remake A Bigger Splash looks like it may finally begin production next year. Amy Adams and Mia Wasikowska were originally attached a couple of years ago but they are going to re-cast. Both roles require extensive nudity and because of Luca’s previous work (I Am Love, Melissa P.), look for some surprising names to vie for the roles.

Are they going to cast a real teenager for the role of Penelope? Luca is a respected film-maker but his last flick was with muse Tilda Swinton back in 2009. He recently worked with blog favorite Kaya Scodelario. Roping in Kaya as Penelope would be surprisingly wonderful. The older woman and the lead should be around 30-39. I get this feeling Maggie Grace is the type of actress who will get all kinds of nekkid for a foreign director.

Any word on the upcoming seasons of Orange is the New Black or Hemlock Grove?
Orange is the New Black alum Madeline Brewer is topless quite a bit in the upcoming season of Hemlock Grove (starting in episode 2).

Personally, the best news of the day for me. Beauty queens are a major turn-on for yours truly. Madeline was superb in OITNB. A talent to watch and utterly fearless. Hoping for a booty shot as well.
