'Fifty Shades' Movie Insider Reveals the Truth About 'Racy' Sex Scenes
Ever since E.L. James' Fifty Shades of Grey was optioned for film, fans have been wondering how in the world screenwriter Kelly Marcel, along with Universal and Focus Features, could adapt the most risque bits. Even more recently, we heard from producer Dana Brunetti that two versions of the film -- an NC-17 and an R-rated cut -- may be the solution. But still. Some scenes in the book are so graphic that we couldn't imagine them not ending up looking like porn.
Well, now, an insider is sharing exactly how the production plans to translate those sex scenes to the silver screen ...
Sounds like the solution is plain and simple: tone 'em down. "[The movie is] less racy than the book. They felt it would be too much, so they have dialed those scenes back," the source exclusively tells E! News.
Still, the source also offered something of a consolation prize for fans: Apparently, Jamie and Dakota are perfect together. What's more, sex scenes have already been filmed! OMG! And we thought they were just getting slightly cozy on the streets of Vancouver so far ...
The source explains, "Overall, the two have great chemistry now. They have filmed a majority of the sex scenes and have really hit it off." Ha, that may explain why they definitely looked more comfortable with one another in the most recent shots of them shooting on location!
The insider also tells E! News that production only allows a small crew to shoot the sex scenes. Instead of the normal 60 people, there are only 12 crew members present because they are such pivotal scenes. Makes sense.
All in all, they've given us no reason to be disappointed yet ... I trust that it's going to shape up to be sufficiently steamy. Plus, come on, no one needs to see some of those nasty details Erika wrote anyway.
