Ansel Elgort and Kaitlyn Dever Join Jason Reitman’s “Men, Women and Children”
Jason Reitman is gathering up an impressive young cast to play teenagers in the midst of their sexual coming of age in his next film, “Men, Women and Children,” which has begun filming in Austin, Texas. THR reports “Divergent” star Ansel Elgort and “Short Term 12″‘s breaktout Kaitlyn Dever are among the latest to join the cast, which also includes Timothée Chalamet, Olivia Crocicchia and Elena Kampouris, as well as the previously announced Katherine Hughes and Travis Tope. The adults in the film, parents to the kids, will be played by the likes of Emma Thompson, Judy Greer, Dean Norris, Adam Sandler, Jennifer Garner and Rosemarie Dewitt. Chad Kultgen’s novel of the same name follows families of junior high students having their sexual awakening in the internet era. But the teens aren’t the only ones going through “sexual pressures.” Adult characters include the strict mom trying to keep her kid away from internet predators, a divorced dad entering the dating world, a mom selling suggestive pictures of her daughter online, and a porn addict.
Elgort, who made his film debut in this year’s “Carrie” remake, have much brighter prospects in his future, including a major supporting role in “Divergent” and the male lead in “The Fault in Our Stars,” both opposite Shailene Woodley. Woodley has also worked with Dever, in this summer’s “The Spectacular Now.” Dever then went on to star opposite Brie Larson in “Short Term 12,” a major critics’ darling this awards season. She heads to Sundance next month to premiere Lynn Shelton’s “Laggies” with Chloe Moretz, and has also wrapped coming of age drama “Grass Stains” with Tye Sheridan.
