Why is Anna Kendrick my celebrity girl crush? She’s hilarious, talented and a big name star…That’s why! You know her from Pitch Perfect and Up In The Air. She plays the smart, sarcastic, funny girl in many of her films and she’s very charismatic and down-to-earth during interviews and behind-the-scenes footage from her movies. What sets Anna apart from other actresses is that she has an amazing singing voice, and she has sung in several of her films. She’s even a rapper in Pitch Perfect! I was excited to learn that Anna is the lead in two musical films coming out this year – The Last 5 Years and Into The Woods! I’m clearly a fan of Anna’s work, but in case you need more persuading here are 3 reasons why YOU should join the Anna Kendrick Fan Club…
She’s funny!
If you search “Anna Kendrick” on YouTube, you’ll come across a whole archive of funny interviews that she’s done to promote her movies. You can tell she’s comfortable making fun of her quirky habits and joking about her experiences with co-stars on set. Anna also writes some pretty hilarious tweets. Her Twitter Bio is, “Pale, awkward and very very small. Form an orderly queue, gents.” On a regular basis, Anna tweets silly photos, awkward experiences and her opinions on current TV shows. She’s super accomplished!
Anna has quite the resume at this point in her career. She’s only 28 and she’s already been in over 20 movies! She was nominated for an Academy Award for Up In The Air in 2009, and she was nominated for a Tony Award for High Society in 1998. Yes, she was on Broadway when she was 12. Pretty impressive. Anna’s single from Pitch Perfect, “Cups” became #2 on the charts for Billboard Adult Pop Songs. It’s not surprising – That song is very catchy!
She stars in awesome movies!
I’ve seen almost every movie from Anna’s career – Why? She knows how to choose a screenplay! Some of her movies are funny, some are dark, but they all have intriguing characters that are captivating throughout the film. I recommend watching 50/50 if you like dramatic films and/or Camp if you like musical comedies. She plays a therapist in 50/50 and has a little romance with Joseph Gordon-Levitt, (a must-see!) and she plays a shy theater girl who decides to steal the popular girl’s lead role in Camp, (Netflix it!)
