Anand Amin, 24, allegedly posed online as a talent scout to lure aspiring models looking for work into sending nude pictures of themselves, police said. But police say Amin forced the women into paying more money or performing sex acts by threatening to go public with the lewd photos.
Anand Amin, 24, allegedly posed as a scout for a bogus talent agency to blackmail aspiring models.
A Connecticut man was arrested for creating a bogus talent agency and extorting aspiring models for sex and money, police said.
Anand Amin, 24, allegedly posed online as a talent scout for “Gucci Top Modeling” — a fake company he set up out of his Catherine Street home in Rocky Hill — to troll for young women looking for work, WTNH-TV reported.
Amin promised top-paying jobs, but required applicants to pay a fee and submit nude or semi-nude pictures of themselves with their biographical information, officials said.
But the accused creep used the lewd photos as blackmail to get more money from the victims and, in some cases, coerced them to perform sexual acts, police said.
Amin allegedly threatened to show the pictures to friends, parents and school officials if the victims did not comply.
Police said they were alerted to the scheme after they received a tip from one victim, a former student at Sacred Heart University.
Cops searched Amin’s home, which is just south of Hartford, and found not only enough evidence to support the woman’s claim — but enough to find additional victims, police said.
The 5-month probe ended this week, when Amin was booked on charges that include larceny by extortion and criminal attempt to commit larceny.
He was ordered held in lieu of $100,000 bail and expected to appear in court on Jan. 30.
